The Facility
The large indoor synthetic turf field of The Edge Sports Center, with its 30 foot ceilings and excellent lighting, makes it a natural setting to hold grass volleyball camps and leagues. In many ways, it is actually preferable to an outdoor grass volleyball setup. Our 'ground' is perfectly flat, and there is no wind or rain to dampen the spirits of the players. For instructional activities such as camps and clinics,, up to six full size courts (30' x 60') can be set up, with 8' between courts on the side, 10' from the wall on either end, and a full 40' in the center where spectators can watch.

Description |
Designed for beginning and intermediate players (no experience necessary), this camp will cover both individual volleyball skills and game strategy. Session time includes both instruction and controlled scrimmages. Camp also provides an opportunity to develop skills prior to trying out for a junior high and/or travel volleyball team. Campers will be divided by age and ability after observation by the coaching staff. With one instructor for every 12 campers, it is easy to facilitate multiple levels of instruction for different age groups. |
Lead Instructor |
Ali Powell
Instructor Ali Powell returns for this camp. Ali has been part of our Volleyball program since it began in the Fall of 2005. She was the assistant instructor in our first camp, and then became the lead instructor beginning with our Spring 2006 Instructional League.
Ali has over 10 years of experience playing Competitive Volleyball. She started playing in the 7th grade at Cache La Poudre Junior High School. After that, she played setter at Poudre High School for the next four years, playing on the varsity team as a Junior and Senior. After high school, she attended Front Range Community College for two and a half years, and has continued to play frequently in many recreational leagues and doubles tournaments in the area.
Her coaching career began when she started helping to coach at Cache La Poudre Junior High and Poudre High School. In December of 2004, Ali started coaching for the Premier Volleyball Club on the 15 Black team. Again this year she is coaching for Premier Volleyball Club for the 16 black team.
Ali also works with players on an individual basis. For example, she spent an hour a week, for two months, with a seventh grader, who had never touched a volleyball in her life, who wanted to try out for her seventh grade volleyball team. After working with her over this time, she did make the team.
Ali puts her passion for volleyball this way: " I love Volleyball! It is a great sport. I take pride in playing and my ability to teach others how to play and improve their skills." |
