The Edge Sports Center is pleased to announce the addition of two outstanding collegiate-level Strength and Conditioning Coaches to our program staff. These coaches are offering Strength & Conditioning programs specifically for High School and Middle School Athletes at The Edge.
"Athlete-Specific" Training
Simply put, the approach these coaches use can be described as: 'athlete-specific training.' Each athlete will be evaluated as an individual, including their current level of fitness, the existence of any fitness-related issues, their sport, their position(s) in that sport and their personal goals for participation in that sport. Then, an appropriate strength and conditioning program will be developed specifically for that athlete.
Programs will take place in our newly remodeled Athletic Performance Room as well as out on the 22,000 sq foot indoor synthetic turf field. |

Meet the Coaches!
Coach 'T' (Tonja Hadley)
Coach ‘T’ holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation from Cal State Hayward where she was a standout softball player. She also holds a Masters Degree (plus post-graduate work) in Sport & Exercise Science-Sport Administration from the University of Northern Colorado.
Coach 'T" has 19 years of experience coaching and training NCAA DI & DII athletes as well as adults, including:
- 12-year college coach for softball and strength & conditioning
- 3 years as Strength Coach/Trainer at Fit Style in Fort Collins
- 3 years as Performance and Fitness Training at 24-hour Fitness
T’ is certified by The National Strength & Conditioning Association as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and by the American Council on Exercise as a Certified Personal Trainer. |

Coach Donn Swanbom
Coach Donn Swanbom is a graduate of the University of Nebraska with a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education and Coaching. He has nine years of NCAA Division I experience as a Strength and Conditioning Coach, including.:
- 4 years at UCLA as the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach
- 3 years at Southern Methodist University as the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach
- 2 years at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln as the Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach
Coach Donn’s programs have been successful in a multitude of men’s and women’s sports including Football, Soccer, Volleyball, Basketball, Swimming & Diving, Tennis, Baseball, Softball, Wrestling, Track and Field, Golf, Rugby, Hockey and many more. |

Expected Results
Strength, speed, flexibility, balance, quickness and overall conditioning will all be developed through participation in these programs. Over time, these fitness improvements will naturally lead to improved athletic performance on the field, diamond, or court. Basketball and volleyball players will be able to jump higher and have better footwork skills. Baseball and softball players will be faster on the bases and throwing the ball harder and further. Football players will be stronger and faster with improved balance. Similar results will be obtained in other sports. These programs will also help reduce the possibility of sports-related injuries.
More on Facilities and Equipment
Last month we completely remodeled and expanded our Athletic Performance Room! For large scale strength equipment, we now have two power racks, a squat rack, a functional trainer, roman chair, and several full sets of dumbbells. Small-scale strength equipment includes kettle bells, medicine balls and and suspension trainers. In the cardio and balance areas, we have agility ladders, step hurdles, agility hurdles,stability balls, plyometric boxes, agility rings, balance boards, fitness steps, aerobic bars, power logs, jump ropes, balance discs and BOSU balls.
Also available to the coaches is the 22,000 square foot indoor synthetic turf field. This provides the coaches with the ability to evaluate players in sport-specific situations (e.g. sprinting, pitching, throwing the ball, running the bases, jumping, playing volleyball etc.) as well as to run exercises that require a lot of room. |
