Adventures for Youth is running a program called Creative Sword Play which is currently being held at the Edge.
Here's a little information out of their Newsletter:
You've heard of walking the plank, right? Well, did you know that there's actually no evidence that this dastardly practice ever existed? Historians theorize that Victorian storytellers probably dreamed up this twist on a practice that dates back to ancient Rome. Back in those times, captives not worth holding for ransom were invited to swim back to shore.
Students will learn this tidbit (and more!) when they join Creative Sword Play for games and adventures, held at the Edge Sports Center. Depending on our theme (pirates, magic, Romans, Samurais, Celtic warriors, or other fascinating topics), activities can include a games that the kids create (with structure and guidance from our wonderful staff), crafts in keeping with our theme, read-alouds, and more. The Edge Sports Center provides a wonderful space for these programs, as we're inside on a great field and we never worry about weather, plus it allows us to have night programs.
There are several events scheduled in the coming months.
