This camp is a great way to get your 5 or 6 year old child started in baseball. No previous experience is necessary.  Camp covers basic baseball skills including throwing and catching the ball, fielding (grounders & fly balls), playing your position, and running the bases. Hitting instruction is also provided in separate groups: tee-ball hitting off a tee and 'coach pitch' hitting. Camp is appropriate for new and returning Tee-Ball players as well as for players making the transition to 'Coach Pitch' baseball from Tee-ball.

Players will be divided by skill and age for the camp. Number of separate groups depends on the number of players that register.

The Fort Collins Foxes were the 2007 & 2005 Champions of the Mountain Collegiate Baseball League. We have arranged for a number of their position players and pitchers to provide youth baseball instruction at The Edge Sports Center.

The Baseball Facility at The Edge Sports Center

A Full-size Indoor Diamond is the centerpiece of The Edge when it is configured for baseball and softball. A floor-to-ceiling, heavy duty vinyl divider curtain creates a 120' x 122' -area for the full-size diamond. Standard bases, available on site, are anchored into sleeves at whatever distance is needed for the team using the field, from 50' to 90'. There is plenty of room to 'play behind the base' no matter what base length is used. A standard pitcher's plate, also anchored into a sleeve, is set at the required distance.

baseball setup Full Size Indoor Baseball Diamond

Baseball Hitting Tunnels Baseball Batting Cages

The foul lines and batter's boxes/catcher area are permanently inlaid in the turf. Dugouts with benches and bat racks are provided along the first and third baselines. Seating for spectators is provided behind chain link in 'center field.'

On the other side of the divider curtain, three 51' drop-down tunnels, fully netted, are available for live-hitting or throwing. Four additional 75' throwing lanes are also available as a bull pen area or for 'long toss. Each lane can be setup with a portable pitching platform if desired. In a separate area next to the field, there are 4 permanent batting cages equipped with brand new pitching machines. Altogether, a total of 11 individual practice areas are available for hitting or throwing in addition to the full-sized infield.

Coach Turtle Thomas, Pitching Coach and Recruiting Coordinator at Arizona State University, a perennial NCAA baseball power, has given several sessions of hitting clinics at The Edge over the past four years. His comment on the facility is: "Of all the indoor baseball facilities I've used for my clinic, this is the best in the country!" [Next session by Coach Thomas: Thanksgiving Weekend, 2009]
