Program Description

The professional staff at Rocky Mountain Baseball Instruction will strive to bring the best out in each and every player and provide player and parent alike the reasons behind the skills that they teach. They continually update their knowledge base to best serve their most important client, the player. A fun, yet old school, no nonsense approach by both coaches are trademarks. Players easily gravitate to the hard work, yet light handed approach for which they are known. Our coaches believe that life lessons found within the games and practices are the most important skills they teach.

Coach Leighton D. Thorne

A hometown player at CSU and FCHS, coach Thorne has been involved in youth baseball since 1982 coaching many of the youth of Fort Collins. He has coached in each of the age levels from t-ball through Connie Mack. His teams have appeared in 8 National World Series at 4 different affiliations including Triple Crown, USSSA, NBC, and Super Series, won in excess of 27 major tournaments and 4 Colorado State Titles including back to back to back state championships at 3 different affiliations. The 2004 14U Lugnuts brought coach Thorne his 300+ win in 7 years. The 2002 Fort Collins Lugnuts-12Majors placed 2nd in the Triple Crown World Series with the 2003-13Major team placing 3rd in the Super Series National Championships at the highest "national" division and the 2004-14 Major team placed 5th in the Triple Crown World Series Div-1.
