Youth Instructional Baseball Leagues
Designed for Beginning and Intermediate Players (not for 'travel team' players). Instruction is provided by experienced, local baseball instructors. Sessions are split 75%-25% between skill building and short, small-sided scrimmages. There are no fixed teams and no scores or standings are kept. All baseball skills are covered (as time and age allows): hitting, base running, fielding, pitching, and position play.
The focus is on learning and having fun!
- Boys & Girls
- Grades K - 6
- 6 weeks, 1 session per week
- April & early May (finishes BEFORE outdoor season begins)
- Choose Tuesday OR Wednesday sessions
- Class times are as follows (this may vary somewhat depending on signups - call for details)
----- Younger Kids (Grades K & 1): 4:15 - 5:10pm
----- Middle Kids (Grades 2 & 3): 5:15 - 6:10pm
----- Older Kids (Grades 4 - 6): 6:15pm - 7:10pm
- Class sizes are limited
----- Grades K/1 and 2/3: 18-20 players with two experienced instructors
----- Grades 4 - 6: 12-14 players with two experienced instructors

Coach Leighton Thorne returns for this instructional league. A hometown player at CSU and FCHS, Coach Thorne has been involved n youth baseball since 1982 coaching many of the youth of Fort Collins. He has coached in each of the age levels from tee-ball through Connie Mack. His teams have appeared in 8 National World Series at 4 different affiliations including Triple Crown, USSSA, NBC, and Super Series. They also won more than 27 major tournaments and 4 Colorado State Titles including back-to-back state championships at 3 different affiliations. The 2004 14U Lugnuts brought Coach Thorne his 300+ win in 7 years.
